Old people playing video games

Filed Under (News) by admin on 23-11-2009

So you thought only little kids and teens play online games and video games, huh? Myths, such as, video games are played only by kids under eighteen, girls don’t play video games, and more importantly, older people don’t go near the gaming consoles, have all been debunked recently. Install a hidden camera in your home, switch it on when you go out and when your kids are at school. When you return, what do you think you’ll find on the tape? Not your old pa and ma watching porn or stealing something from the fridge that the doctor had tabooed for them, you’ll find on the tape, your ma and pa having a serious gaming session with your kids’ Wii, Xbox or Playstation console.

C’mon, don’t fool yourself and think that old people are through with life and all they like to do is take your dog for a walk or play with your children. The senior folks are having rollicking times with the advent of the gaming consoles. Nintendo perhaps changed the way video games were played, but, now, with so many advanced gaming systems in view, older people just don’t seem to keep their hands off from the gaming consoles. One look at all the photos and videos of old people playing games doing the rounds on the Internet is enough to bring stomach cramps from all the laughing you do. The seniors absolutely go berserk when they play the games, and if the photos and videos are to be believed, these gentle old-timers, well into their 60s and 70s, don’t seem to lack in the enthusiasm factor as in comparison to their teenaged grandchildren. Imagine your father or grandfather imitating Rocky Balboa in the ring with the music of the Eye of the Tiger in the background, throwing left and right punches and jabs at the TV screen, and you’ll end up on the floor clutching your stomach in laughter pain.

Old grandmothers reviving their Saturday nights memories with some cool, interactive, virtual dancing in front of the television screens are things that you can’t miss for a million bucks. If you think that your grandma didn’t know about hip-hop or break dancing, just catch them shake their hips and move their legs, and if you can stop laughing, you’ll also learn a few steps from them. Older people are into everything these days; baseball, boxing and interactive dancing are regular stuffs they do with their gaming systems, but if you care to test their skills in the more advanced and rigorous games, chances are that they’ll beat you all ends up. Studies done reveal that gaming for older people improves the memory-cognitive functions of their brains, but seeing the way these old folks play the games, you’ll start wondering if they really need any improvement!
