If you have played Gold Miner - Vegas and do enjoy such games, you might wish to try out Nat Geo Eco Rescue - Rivers. It has the same type of gameplay except that instead of picking up gold or valuables, you are going to pick up junk from the river or lake bottom.
The graphics are a little blue and gloomy but well… it is junk we are talking about so you don’t really expect them to be really pretty and colorful right? With about 24 levels which I felt it was pretty short but definitely this game is more to an educational side instead of entertainment.
For every mission, you have a primary objective and secondary objective available for you to complete the game. Every mission has different objectives so make sure you clear the objectives first before cleaning up the whole river cos the next mission will only be unlocked if you have met the objectives to the game.Picking up the gold items earns you extra cash so do remember to pick them up for a money boost.
You can choose to purchase additional upgrades to help you out in each level to give you extra bonus or benefits to the game. These upgrades only last for the level and if you decide to restart the level after playing it halfway, your money spent on the upgrade won’t be refunded so do make sure you have earn at least what you spent before restarting the mission.
A Cleandex is available for you to browse through all the junk you have picked up, it provides a pretty neat information on the junk you have collected and it is where I would say it is really educational. It lets you know what are the facts and effects on every junk you have cleared from the river. It’s a little summarized but it still gets the message across.
Overall, this game is pretty short at 20+ levels which can be easily cleared in less than 3 hours. Even though there are different objectives in each mission level, it tends to be a little repetitive. But because this game was created to spread awareness and it’s education, I will still give my full support to it. I do hope there will be more of such educational games in the future. After all, environmental issues are everyone’s issues.
