Ranch Rush 2 Game Review

For those who have played the first Ranch Rush and love it, Sara is back again in the latest time management game – Ranch Rush 2! The usual gameplay still applies but this time round, the game theme is set on a tropical island. So what comes to your mind when you think of “Tropical Island”? Monkeys, Bananas, Coconuts, Pineapples, Tiki Torches…. Well you are absolutely right! Not only that, they have added in some new elements in the game other than just farming fruits and flowers. So what’s new? Read on and you will find out!

The story starts off with showing Sara and Jim being successful and famous in the farming world. But due to the popularity and success, instead of spending more time to tend the fields which she would have preferred, Sara finds herself get laden with tons of paperwork instead.  Finally she decided it’s time to put it down and go for a vacation instead. However after arriving at the island, noticing there isn’t any farms around, Sara decided to change her plans and start a farm on the tropical island instead.

The basic gameplay of Ranch Rush 2 is the same as the first, where you have to plant some fruits or flowers, water them when needed and of course use pesticide if needed. Ranch Rush 2 has 3 different gameplay modes, casual, expert and free play mode. You can only play the casual mode at first while the other 2 gameplay modes will be unlocked as you proceed in the game. There are a total of 10 weeks and each week you will have 5 weekdays for farming, Saturdays as open market days where you can earn additional coins to spend on decorations or other goodies and finally Sundays are for Fishing!

Each weekday starts off with a customer’s order of specific amount of items like flowers, fruits, milk etc. which you have to fulfill within the time limit by planting, harvesting, making products with the machines and tending to animals. As the state of your farm carries over from one day to another, stocking up or preparing the products beforehand is recommended in order to save up either for Saturdays or as next day’s requirements. If you remember from the first Ranch Rush, you have to collect honey when the bees are out, this time you have to collect milk from the goats but do make sure that they are quite far away or you might get a butt from the goats if you are not careful. You get to meet Coco the monkey that helps you picks coconuts by feeding it bananas. You will also get to catch crabs to fulfill the order by picking them up along the beach as they are brought in by the waves.

On Saturdays which are the market days where you can sell anything you want to obtain coins to be used for decorating your farm like adding tiki torches, flowers, fishes in the sea and even turtles. It’s rather nice to be able to customize your farm exactly the way you like which earns you a trophy if you have one of each available decorations in your farm. (hmm… the decorating part does reminds me of some Facebook farming games…lol!) But frankly speaking, if it wasn’t for the trophy, I wouldn’t have taken the trouble to get all the decorations for the farm!

As for Sundays, Ranch Rush 2 has added a new fishing mini game that also helps to earn additional coins. The mini game reminds me a lot of Fishing Craze which was one of my favorite games quite some time back so if you have played it, you will be quite familiar with the gameplay.  But if you haven’t, no worries, it’s rather easy to get a hang of it and since it’s pretty fun, you may even find yourself looking forward to Sundays! (Feels like reality, isn’t it! ) You control your boat by moving your mouse left or right, left click to drop your lure and right click to pull back your lure. At the start of each fishing trip, you will only be able to catch smaller fishes and when you have caught a certain amount as indicated at the bar above, your lure will be upgraded and you will be able to catch larger fishes.

Overall I find the Ranch Rush 2 really fun and challenging although it might be pretty hectic at times. I love the way it introduces new activities without making you confused by giving ample time for you to get used to it. I thought the guide was pretty well done too making beginners to understand the gameplay easily. Although there is plenty of farming time management games out there, I would say Ranch Rush 2 is one of the best I have played so far. There are definitely no complaints about the game; I couldn’t even complain about the lack of levels as the 2 other gameplay modes made up for it! Ranch Rush 2 is definitely recommended for all time management game lovers and beginners.
