Well… It has been quite a while and I haven’t had the time to sit down and play a game thoroughly. After going through a long list of available games under cutecutegames resources, I decided to play a Match 3 game in order to get my brain started on playing games again. Initially I thought that Match 3 games are supposed to be pretty easy and should be able to finish it within few hours or a day or so. In fact this game actually took me 3 days to complete it in “Perfect Expert Score” for every level and I’m really exhausted. (Of course, I’m happy too!
)
Sally’s Quick Clips is a fast paced Match 3 game with 60 levels and 10 different salons/venues that you have to make matches to gather the different resources to attend to your customers needs. For those who have played Sally’s Salon or Sally’s Spa before, you will notice that the gameplay this time really differs a lot from its original gameplay. As you can see, it is more of a Match 3 game instead of just Time Management and I would say it’s not easy as this time you need to concentrate on both things at the same time while the clock is ticking away.
Like all Match 3 games are, all you have to do is to swap the tiles to make matches of 3 or above to get enough matches of a certain service to earn a service chip which you can use it on your customer. It’s pretty straight forward so all you have to do is to make sure you have the certain service in stock before you can service your customer. Just like Sally’s Salon, certain service requires you to play a mini game of finding the preferred style for your customer. Just click left or right through the styles available until you find the style that will bring a smile on your customer’s face. They do have very nice and fancy names for different styles but you probably won’t have the time to take notice of that as the game progresses.
To complete the level, you need to earn the targeted amount of hearts before the day ends. In order to do that, you have to serve each customer in time and make sure they leave the place happy. If you are fast enough, you can even aim to complete the level in expert score. And if all of your customers left the salon with full hearts while getting the expert score, you will complete the level in “Perfect Expert Score” which the icon is represented with a heart on a star. It’s pretty easy to get it for the first few venues of the game but you probably have to replay it a number of times when you get to the middle of the game where the gap for the number of hearts between targeted score and expert is pretty wide. Especially those you need an additional of 4-5 customers.
As usual there will be power-ups to help you out in each level and these are really very important in the game as the game progresses. You will find yourself using them more often as you raced against the time and you better get used to using them as often as possible to help you out in the game.
You can also purchase additional upgrades in between level to help you out in the gameplay. For the first few basic upgrades are easily affordable but as you progress through the game, you will find that it’s not easy to earn that much to buy an upgrade each time but this also depends on which upgrades you decide to get first.
There will be 6 levels for every venue. At the end of the 5th level, you get to compete in the Style-Off Challenge. You have to compete against a computer player by racing to make matches of a certain service as fast as possible in order to serve your clients. If you managed to fill up your gauge before the computer player, you will earn a hairstyle trophy for your signature style. I find it rather easy for most of the challenges except for the last 2 stages where the computer player does not even pause between matches like the rest do. So I do find myself making more random matches in order to get the correct service matches as I really didn’t have the time to think.
Overall, I find Sallys Quick Clips pretty entertaining and I do really like the colorful graphics. Although the background music is pretty nice and they do have many nice fanciful names for every style but because the game is really fast paced and you need to concentrate on too many things at one time, I really didn’t have the time to pay attention to it. What I didn’t really like about the game was the steep jump of the difficulty halfway through the game and because this game really takes up a lot of your concentration, it’s pretty difficult to play it through without resting. A rather nice game that I would recommend for gamers who love fast paced games.
