Online Games - Faunasphere Exclusive Invitaion

Filed Under (CCG News, Members Only, Online Games) by Jasmine on 27-06-2009

Dear subscribers,

Big Fish Games is currently working on a casual MMO called Faunasphere that is currently in beta, but is scheduled to launch August 2009. They have extended an exclusive beta invitation to all of CuteCuteGames subscribers to find out what you think of the game. We will be sending the invitation by email.

Adventure waits in a mysterious, abandoned world, overrun with living pollution. Charming creatures known as Fauna have survived in this beautiful yet inhospitable environment. You can help them build a new, clean world for themselves: become a Caretaker!
As a Caretaker, you adopt Fauna and guide them to attend to their needs. Build them customized dens and discover their favorite foods. Keep them happy and energetic, and they’ll help you destroy the pollution and remake the world.

Together, you and your Fauna can help this lost world recover. You can even build your own corner of the world that’s exactly as you want it to be.

Along the way…

Explore the wilderness
Strange lands and exotic locales await discovery. Explore far-flung corners to find hidden treasures and the ingredients for exotic foods that your Fauna will love.

Make your mark on the world
Build a space for your Fauna called a Faunasphere. Customize it to look how you want and make your Fauna comfy and happy. Then, breed your Fauna to customize them too.

Build a better world — together
Join forces with other Caretakers and their Fauna to fight pollution, explore, trade ideas and resources, and contribute to community projects. Many paws make work light and fun.

For more information, visit Faunasphere at their official website here

PC Games - Wild Tribe

In the teeny tiny village of Tribesville, a Wild Tribe of little creatures called Wobblies have lived peacefully for thousands of years. Dark times are on the horizon, however, as the food and water supplies are diminishing and hyenas are stealing resources. Can you use your Time Management skills to transform these simple creatures into a tribe of foragers, doctors, builders and guards before it’s too late?

  • Cute critters
  • Collect magical objects
  • Defend your Wild Tribe!

Wild Tribe does remind me of 1 of my favourite games Virtual Villagers but instead of looking after little human beings, you will actually look after a tribe of little creatures called Wobblies.  Just like Virtual Villagers, you have a choice to set the game speed to 3 different types namely slow, normal and fast. For impatient gamers like me, naturally I will set it to fast! But do remember to set it to “pause” if you intend to go away from your game for a long time as the game will still continue even though you have off the game. Choose your preference of either an easy or normal game and you’re ready to go!

There are 6 different roles that you can assign your Wobblies to: Foraging, Building, Collecting Water, Doctoring, Defending and Breeding. For every different role they are been assigned to, they will be transform/evolve to a different kind of creature. For Foraging, Wobblies will be changed to giraffes, Building to gorillas, Collecting Water to elephants, Doctoring to zebras, Defending to lions and as for breeding, they will remain as their natural state. Take note that only Wobblies can breed so remember to leave 2 of them for breeding purposes. No worries if you have transform all as you can just drop them into the Mysterious Swirling Pool and they will be changed back to their natural state!

Under the progress button, you will see that you have 18 different goals to complete. Some requires collecting maps to reveal your next goal so try to get it before the map pieces get blown away!  1 other important note to remember is that other than the Lions, the rest does perform certain tasks in unlocking the goals so do not just think that all building stuff is only for builders. Anyway I’m not going to spoil the fun for you by telling you the full details of the game so it’s better for you to try it out instead!

Game Information

  • Game Length: there are 10 basic chapters to the game. Each chapter is further broken down into three different screens covering three different times/individuals. All three screens must be completed before moving to the next chapter.
  • Timer: there is an accumulative timer for this game which gives the player the options of playing for speed (simply go faster for a lower timer score), or playing for casual enjoyment of the game.
  • Objects: in each screen there are 4 historical objects divided into pieces that must be located and reassembled. Not all pieces are initially available. The guide will specify how many pieces each object is divided into and the number of initially available pieces. The pieces of the historical objects that are not immediately available will become so through the completion of mini-games and the use of items from the toolkit screen.
  • Inventory: there is an inventory bar located on the bottom of each screen. This bar shows which items are hidden on that particular screen. Also on the inventory bar is an arrow button which, when pushed, will display all historical objects that have been reassembled and are ready for placement.
  • Toolkit: the toolkit screen will show which items have been gathered from the screen and which are still to be found.
  • Time Device: in the lower right corner of the screen is the Time Device. It is a circular gold and green dial which will indicate how many pieces of items have yet to be discovered, and how many mini-games have yet to be played for a current screen. This is also the method by which the player moves back and forth between the three screens for each chapter. Simply left-click on the device and it will bring up a round screen which gives you the option of selecting which historical figure and time you wish to travel to next.
  • Hints: in the lower left corner of the screen is the hint button, as well as a zoom button for up-close and personal viewing of search screens. There is also a menu button to take you back to the main menu of the game. The hint button is refillable with a fairly quick refill time.
  • Hidden Object: these are screens in which the player must locate pieces of historical objects in order to reassemble them and to place them back where they belong. Each item is part of the overall story. There are no item searches that do not move the story forward.
  • Mini-Games: there are several mini-games in each chapter of the game. The nature of these games varies greatly and each provides a clue or an item that assists in moving the story and the game forward. There is something for every gaming preference! There are skip buttons for each mini-game in the event that any game seems a bit more difficult or time consuming than the player desires. There is, however, a 20 minute penalty for using the skip button!

Help Alisa and Rudy, a magician and a gnomish builder, rebuild their destroyed world from the ground up! Wonderburg needs your protection from snarling dragons, nefarious wizards and troublesome trolls. This Time Management Strategy game will lead you through the mystery of the destruction of your world, and take you from lush farmlands to snowy cliffs. Use magical spells to help your efforts as you bring back Wonderburg!

  • Advance your cities
  • Protect your people
  • Rebuild Wonderburg!

Wonderburg is the latest time management strategy game that has just been released and only available in Big Fish Games. I already played another game like this earlier this week which I didn’t really fancy so I did hesitate before trying this out. Since it’s an exclusive to Big Fish Games so I guess it wouldn’t be bad.

Just like most building type of time management games, you will have to build and repair houses, purchase extra plots of land if needed and of cos fulfilling any type of goals needed to complete the level. As this game is based on a fantasy theme of dwarfs, witches, wizards, giants and so on… So there’s another job you have to do is to get rid of the curses and chase away any unwanted visitors.

At the start of the game, you have the choice of playing the game in relaxed or timed mode. Relaxed mode is highly recommended for new players that haven’t tried this genre of games or for players who prefer playing games in an untimed mode. As for timed mode, it is recommended for players who want a challenge. Anyway, this game is not really difficult and is pretty easy to score a gold in every level. My best strategy is to build the most expensive house you can at the start of the game and sell it out immediately. With that extra cash in your hand it will be easier and faster to complete the level.

There are seven bonus levels unlocked if you have scored a gold star for each level of the related story stage. These bonus levels are untimed so you could take your own sweet time and your preferred strategy in completing the level. The only objective for the bonus level is to earn the amount of cash as stated in the game. With the well-illustrated graphics and an easily understandable tutorial, this is a great game for players of all skill levels.

PC Games–Emerald City Confidential

Filed Under (PC Games, Reviews) by Jasmine on 25-03-2009

PC Games – Emerald City Confidential

PC Games – Emerald City Confidential

PC Games – Emerald City Confidential

The magical Land of Oz has never seemed so gritty! Petra is the only private detective in this reimagining of the Emerald City, so it is up to her to find Dee Gale’s missing fiancé. Dive deep into the seedy underbelly of the criminal underground, and track down the kidnappers, as well as learn a few secrets about Petra! This sprawling Adventure game pulls out all the stops!

  • Film noir style mystery
  • Beautiful hand drawn art
  • Intriguing Puzzles
  • In-game Strategy Guide

Emerald City Confidential is an adventure game with 50 quests, which means you will be clicking on people to have conversations to get clues on where to go and what to do next. You start off the game as Petra, a young detective trying to make ends meet and who is especially touchy over the topic of her missing brother. If you find anything that you think is suspicious and would like to know more about it, simply click on it and Petra will describe it, use it, or even explain what is needed to use it. At every completion of each quest you’ll receive a gem, collect all 50 gems and you will complete the game.

Moving from one place to another is easy as you just have to go to the nearest Gump Stand and a Gump Taxi will bring you to the main map where you can click on the area you would like to go. Don’t worry about getting lost in the game as you can click on the hint button in your notebook anytime for more reference. You also don’t have to worry about picking the wrong sentence for every conversation as you will get to the right one eventually. There will not be any penalty for picking the wrong sentences in each conversation except that it will probably take you a longer time to complete but I guess this is fine as I find the conversations pretty amusing and entertaining to follow.

There will be 3 different colored buttons for you to collect and they are Red, Green and Yellow. They often appear as tiny sparkles during gameplay, click on them and they will be added to your inventory. After collecting the buttons, go to Scraps Store which is located next to your office building to exchange for pieces of concept art.

Overall I think this game is highly recommended for people who love adventure games but there will be a lot of reading to do. Just some side information, even though the characters are from the fairytale, The Land of Oz. I wouldn’t recommend this game for children as they are not your average Land of Oz characters cos whatever you know about them in the fairytale is not the same here. But then again I do love games from PlayFirst so any game that has PlayFirst trademark on it is definitely worth playing!

PC Games - Unwell Mel ™

PC Games - Unwell Mel

The doctor is in, with this madcap Match 3 game! Poor Mel has every ailment in the book, and you`re the only one who can cure him. Use your scanner to figure out what’s got him this time, whether it`s too much junk food, or some zany virus, and get to work. Make matching sets of medicines to dispel Mel`s blues and bring him back to good health. Buy special remedies, like Big Fish Oil to aid your efforts. Help Mel get well now!

•    Match 3 splendor
•    Fun power ups
•    Enjoy untimed Relax Mode

Unwell Mel ™ is an exclusive game launched by Big Fish Games. It is still in the top 10 even though it’s been out for quite some time. (lol, at least it’s not too late for me to play it.) Hmm…. with so many games been launched and trying to juggle my time with work and friends, I guess I need to find someone kind enough to help me to keep this blog running. Well, don’t look at cutecute (the other writer for this blog), she’s busy with the back end work for this blog. She’s trying to integrate the games onto the blog so that all of you out there can try it out without downloading. (Especially for those who needs a game during working, lol!) Ok, that’s all on my personal stuff let’s get to the game.

Unwell Mel ™ is a Match 3 game where you play as a doctor trying to cure poor Mel who seems to be diagnosed with every funny illness that seems available. So it’s up to you to save him from the numerous funny diseases like “restless mouth”, “lemon lime disease” or even “lily liver”. You may purchase 8 helpful power-ups from Ed the salesman in order to lend you a hand in clearing Mel’s diseases.

Match three or more items together by swapping their positions such as bugs, food and the different medical bags until all the conditions are met for the level. Matching medical bags will help to charge your power-ups that were bought from Ed and some bugs when matched will cause explosions. Matching 4 or more together will give you a special bonus like extra cash or clearing tools that help you in different patterns like vertically, horizontally or within a square block of 9.

You can choose to play the game in timed or relaxed mode, and has 100 diseases with varying numbers of levels to clear in each disease category. You play the game in a calendar form with more than 100 appointments with Mel which results in 300 levels to cure Mel effectively. Overall I find this game very challenging, with the cute graphics and funny names of the illness, this game is a great game to be kept on my laptop to keep me entertained.
